Gulab jamun
Gulab jamun is most favourite delight of asian countries particularly in pakistan & india
here is an easy recipe to make it at home!
Ingredients
1cup sugar
3 Green Cardamom pods
1½ cups Water
1-2 drops of Lemon Juice, optional
1/2 cup Milk Powder
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon (a small pinch) Baking Soda
1 tablespoon Ghee
2-3 tablespoons Milk
Oil or Ghee, for deep frying
Method:
Take 1-cup sugar, 3 green cardamom pods, 1½ cups water and 1-2 drops of lemon juice in a deep pot or pan. Lemon juice is added to prevent syrup from solidifying when it cools.
cook syrup till it thickens in consistency. Donot caramalize the syrup
Add Dry milk,all purpose flour, baking soda in a bowl. sift it. add oil & start pouring milk white making a dough of mixture. pour milk 1 by 1 tablespoon.
keep dough in fridge for 15 minutes
start making balls by greasing hands. Don't make very large balls as they are going to increase in size on frying
heat the oil on medium heat. Don't over heat oil. Fry balls till golden brown
pour balls in sugar syrup while hot. sugar syrup should be cooled.
serve with syrup or without syrup.
Garnish with pistachios
